Final front cover edited a bit

Although I have finished my magazine I just wanted to change the barcode on my front cover. I decided not to make my own barcode because I didn't think it looked as good so I took a picture of a barcode and edited it to make it look good on my own front cover. I changed it from my other one because that didn't look very professional.

Question 2: What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?

The insitution I would want to distribute my magazine is Bauer Media Group. It operates in 15 countries worldwide and the music magazines Bauer Media Group publish are Q, Mojo and Kerrang. I would chose this institution because the three music magazines they do publish are very popular and well known. Q Magazine is known as the UK's biggest music magazines.  It has music news, reviews and world exclusives with the most important bands on the planet and Kerrang is known as the worlds biggest selling weekly rock magazine. They also operate in 15 countries so my magazine would not just be published in the UK and would sell better and be known worldwide so would do better as a music magazine. The fact that they also publish 2 of the most well known magazines means that a lot of people have heard of without even necessarily being interested in music magazines or buying them shows that they are very popular and advertised very well so they most probably do better.

I do not think my magazine would suit being published by international publishing company (IPC) because they specialise more in gossip or men and women's life style magazines. Although they publish NME and Guitar and Bass before I was interested in Media I had only heard of NME whereas I had heard of Q, Mojo and Kerrang.  Therefore their advertising and sales may not be as good and are better at other types of magazines instead of music magazines.
I also don't think the National magazine company would also be best to publish my magazine because they publish a lot of woman magazines, including health, fashion, gossip and housekeeping magazines. Although they publish some men's magazines they do not publish many. This would not be right because my magazine is for females and males and for the younger generation so the National magazine company who publish magazines for older people may not publish my magazine very well.
Future publishing would also not be the best to publish my magazine because although they have some music type magazines, for example computer music and future music, a lot of their magazines are based on technology. Even the music magazines they do publish are technology based. My music magazine is for younger people and Future publishing is for older people especially males interested in technology so the magazines they publish are very different from mine.

Question 1: In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My final finished draft of my magazine

This is my final magazine. I changed the layout of things on my front cover, for example the words "FT Skye" were diagonal  over her and I changed them to be straight as well as being bolder. I also added the price to take up some plain space and moved things around slightly but overall my front cover has not changed too much. I changed a lot about my contents page to make it look like a real magazines contents page by adding more articles and pictures and having the layout similar to a real magazine,  I picked out the most important articles and have them going down the page in lines with a little bit of information about the article. I tried to make that little bit of information seem interesting and different. I also put pictures from the most important articles with bold writing next to it, to add affect and as my contents page looked boring and unfinished before.  By doing this it also took up all the white space on my contents page. I didn't change much about my double page spread because I felt when comparing it to a real magazine they looked similar. I just added something at the end of the interview about a competition that I saw some teenage magazines had which I thought worked well. I learnt more about what real magazines had and tried to put some of those ideas into my finished magazine.
